When we say potful, we mean potful!
—Andy Browman
Andy said that Saturday night as we saw a heard of elk moving up on a ridge. I took a video and posted it here on Flickr. The herd had already been moving so we didn’t see all of it.
Afterwards, as we continued driving home, we saw more elk by the side of the road.
There are a few more pictures (along with the video) in this Flickr album.

Wow, thereare a lot! And they don’t seem scared, either!
I think the first ones didn’t notice us, the later ones staring at us did. They’re often not scared of cars, but they’ll often run if someone gets out to take pictures.
Wow! That is a lot!
Yes, we were impressed. 🙂
Wowsers that’s some “potful” – never heard that word – but I use it for the reply.
They look well fed, the land along their trail must have been fruitful for them
Do have any idea where they are headed?
I was wondering that too. They are moving away from the Valle Grande, which is a huge valley full of grass. It is a great year for them.
WOW, that is a lot of elk.
Yes. 🙂
the video is beyond amazing!! I did notice at first no one saw you but towards the end almost all of them started to look at you. nature at it finest and you were there and so are we. Wow! I also enjoyed hearing your voices and you sound nothing like I thought you would
I don’t think the voices on the video sound like us at all. I’m guessing one or two elk eventually saw us and once they started staring others joined in. That was an experience of a lifetime.
Gosh, that video panorama is wonderful! Like Sandra said, it’s really neat to hear the audio; is that Kaitlin’s voice?
No, Andy and me.
Elk look so very wise and dignified, don’t they?
They look stately. 🙂
I thought this would be a post about elk chilly or stew.
😀
Wow, that is always a treat!
🙂
We have seen elk a lot on KB’s blog. They are beautiful creatures, but we think we would keep our distance.
Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber
It’s always wise to keep our distance from wild animals. For their sake as well as ours.
