Even Bumpier

The road in yesterday’s post was indeed bumpier after the rain, but it’s not as bad as the Del Norte road. Click on the picture to see the first couple of minutes of what it was like when we drove in yesterday.

It was worse farther up the road but this one is bouncy enough to look at.

I know a few roads that get gullies washed in them when it rains hard. But I can hardly notice the road because I love the scenery so much!

That sure was a rough ride. Such a beautiful scenic view though

  3. You know I’m loving this!
It just occurred to me to ask — do you remember how y’all felt the first time you traveled up to what would become your getaway? Maybe you’ve already written/journaled about that?

We were excited, of course. We had been looking for land for about two years when it became available in 1976. We fell in love with it because of all the trees… all except one burned in the 2011 fire, but we still love the place.

looks like you hit a couple of pot holes, the entire car rocked. your phone is doing an amazing job of taking us up the road to your mountain. I love the way the trees look on the side of the road

  5. I don’t know if you remember but my own driveway was like this year round – if you had a low undercarriage, you were advised to park on the street – in the summer you could hear anyone coming due to the xylophone effect of the broken concrete that rattled everyone…but at least I could be sure of the visitor…and it was narrow. Although up the centre part was walkable – I didn’t have a car. But if you weren’t careful you’d have a sprained ankle…me never! But friends were constantly worried…

All I wanted was someone to fix my turn around as the idiot of the time next door drove off the edge and made it a deep drop if you weren’t a confident driver…but the 2 landlords decided to “re concrete it all” – I wouldn’t say completely properly as the contractors didn’t do a good job!

It’s still a problem where the driveway meets the footpath and then the street…but no one seems to want to fix that!

but now no one worries about me falling!
