I’m still spending a lot of time playing with Spanish. I mostly want to be able to understand it when it’s spoken and to be able to read it, but when a fellow in the laundry room yesterday morning was listening to a (loud) Spanish program, I couldn’t resist the chance to speak. As I was leaving I said, “Buenos Dias!” and waved. I’m sure he thought I was crazy, but I’m used to that by now. 😀

sounds like a lot of fun and sure probably caused the fellow, surprise…
🙂
it would be good if someone lives in your complex to learn it by talking with them. that is how I would learn it, just a few words at a time. like teaching a toddler to talk. touch ear and say ear! vaya con dios!
They have apps aimed at conversational Spanish that are easy to use. They’re similar to the tapes we had years ago. That’s what I used when I knew I was going to Partachlam in Germany and no one would speak English there.
Perhaps … but in a good way. I think he would be flattered, your trying to speak his language.
That’s what I was trying for. 🙂
I think I would have taken advantage of the situation and spoke to him in spanish as well.
🙂
Learning other languages is so hard! So I appreciate your sticking with it!
The main thing is to try to break it down into easy steps.
I can’t remember if I said this before so I’ll chance it. We like watching Spanish TV programs with English subtitles. It’s fun to recognize some words and learn some new ones. My newest phrase is “Lo siento” which means I’m sorry.
I’m about to try Spanish programs with Spanish subtitles sometimes. At the moment I’ve been watching an Amercian program on Amazon Prime with Spanish subtitles.
Good for you!!! We have a lot of Spanish speaking workers here in the summer. I try to use a few words with them, but they just smile and nod:). Guess that tells me how much I need to improve:)
At least they know you’re trying to be friendly.
