WordPress Emojis

Bruce tried to put a laughing face in a comment yesterday and it came out as a question mark. Yes, WordPress, unlike Blogger, doesn’t let us choose symbols from a table. We have to use the keyboard, and it doesn’t give us as much choice. The text for emojis has to have a space before and after it to be interpreted.

I’ve never been able to insert an emoji on either type of blog. Of course I’ve also never tried to comment from my phone. I’m always on desk top and the most I can get is the symbols like the smiley face 🙂

  2. Ann Thompson says:

Oh well look at that, it changed it to a smiley. I never knew it did that. I always thought it left it as the punctuation marks that I typed. Now that makes me double smiley 🙂 🙂

    Thanks for this cheat sheet!
I’m going to copy and paste … someplace I can remember, that is!

  6. I”m not fond of emojis but it was interesting getting them translated. Most you can guess their meanings but a few were new to me.

I have never been able to remember all the keyboard commands, there are just too many! Maybe if I had grown up learning them. So, I like to use the pop-up table.

Oh it works! Color me pleased.

🙂 Did we get a wink? I often wondered about the question mark in a box that I always see in comments on Instagram.
