Being in the Here and Now

I disagree with the fellow walking. I don’t believe you have to be out in nature to be in the here and now. For me being in a flow state, fully immersed in an activity, is also being in the here and now.

Andy and I had both Saturday. We enjoyed both the scenery driving up to the land and back and working on our individual projects when we were up there. For me it was using Starlink

to stream Blue Bloods en Español so I could devise a strategy for learning to read and listen faster in Spanish. For Andy it was working on fall chores like bringing firewood back to the porch now that the fire season is over.

It was a great day.

  1. Getting immersed in any activity can be very zen! I sometimes start writing and before I know it I have covered pages and pages without really thinking about it. Other days it’s such hard slog!

The neat thing for me studying Spanish is I don’t have to do it, so I find things that are fun to do. I’m surprised it’s going as well as it is.

But the youngster still has her smartphone, doesn’t she? So it goes with this new generation.

Yes, different people like different things. It would be surprising if she didn’t want to keep connected to friends rather than look at the scenery. 🙂

Looks like a lovely day, just doing what you both want. A Blog follower of mine actually saw Starlink floating up in the sky, and she got photos of it. It looks amazing! I think there are going to be a lot of them eventually.

  4. I think you’ve a point! Whatever you’re doing, if it brings you joy that’s what counts. No room for guilty distractions or what-if’s.
Precious and few — I’m still hoping to rediscover those moments.

  5. I like outdoors in short doses …

But I like doing all kinds of things – including mastering this and that – be it art or something else.

I agree with you. I think being immersed in whatever gives you joy is what puts you in the here and now.
