Andy’s Adventure

We did get the truck unstuck.

When Andy left Saturday morning he said he was going to talk to our friends/neighbors across the valley to see if they could do it with their truck. I checked from time to time on the Garmin map to see if he had gotten up to the land, but he was at the neighbors for over two hours, so I was curious.

Then around 3 p.m. he sent this message,

Had adventure today. Will be late. All is ok. Just starting lunch.

It turns out while they were talking Beth said, “Your Jeep is moving.” So they looked and sure enough, it was rolling downhill straight for a steep drop off. They watched in amazement when the Jeep suddenly veered sideways, parallel to the drop off and was stopped by some vegetation. That was a relief, but it was still tilted sideways about 30° so it took a couple of hours to get it safely back to level ground.

Andy had been having trouble with the transmission and expected to have to replace it, but after this adventure everyone agreed it was time to replace the whole Jeep. It was 14 years old and had been driven 213,000 miles, half on rough dirt roads. Because of Andy’s age we had hoped to keep it going for a couple more years, but clearly safety came first. So we spent this week looking for a replacement. We didn’t have much choice and ended up with a 2021 used one. When I sent picture to our friends and thanked them for their help, Beth wrote,

Glad to help! We will always see Andy coming !!!!! 😀 😀

I read this to bob so he could know why i was laughing. what a great story and so happy no vehicles or people were harmed in the making of this funny story. I love the Pink Panther and think he needs a tag announcing that. I love that jeep. so is the truck still stuck?

  4. Wow that was scary! Glad you got a replacement. Love the color.

Pink Panther, yesssss! Did y’all have to drive to Albuquerque to find it?
Replacing a vehicle’s not one of my favorite things, but agree (that) safety trumps all!

Oh my gosh, how scary!!! I am so glad it all worked out so well, and that the vegetation was there!! Your new Jeep is cute, and I love the color! What is the mileage? Did you get it from a dealer? I think this was a good decision, now you will be safer with a newer one.

  7. Linda Sand says:

I’m so glad everyone is safe. I think I could live with that color simply because it increases the odds of living at all.
