The weather wasn’t quite as nice for Andy, Beate, and Tim’s walk yesterday. It was sunny in the morning but then clouded up. They didn’t get seriously rained on, though, which was a plus. That’s unusual weather for June here — it’s usually hot, dry, and the fire season. (It’s raining down here as I write this.)
Another plus was they walked on roads, and none of them with fallen trees to climb over/under. There was some elevation change, but not as much as last week.
The only obstacle was a washout blocking vehicle travel to many of the roads, but the Park Service plans to fix that by early next month.
The greenery and even seeing a stream was a big plus for this time of year.
And they also enjoyed the prairie dogs.
And the elk.
It worked out well.

It looks so beautiful around there. What a treat to see all the elk too
The elk herd isn’t unusual. but the greenery this time of year is. Last year the park and the forests around here were closed because of the drought and fire danger, so Andy, Beate, and Tim couldn’t take their Sunday walks. What a difference!
Can’t believe how green those fields are! The elk herd is large.
Yes, the green fields are beautiful, and unusual for this time of year.

🙂
gorgeous
btw the weather gurus here have kept saying each week “next week the humdinger winter weather is coming” – and today they have got it very wrong – like a nice hot sunny spring day! To a point I had got down to the last layer round mid day 🙂
Weather is hard to predict!
yesterday was a humdinger start – cold as church mice – condensation +++. So last night made sure I had another bed layer on…day turned out nice, but still a tad chilly if you got in a draught
this morning, not cold, church mice would’ve been okay and no condensation. Although it does look grey out…
I love prairie dogs!
I do too!
