The advantage of having our house so close to the east edge of the ridge is the great views. The disadvantage is it’s a lot more work for Andy to clear the vegetation 100 feet from the house.
Here is what has grown the past year:
Here is what he has cleared already:
It’s hard work because of the slope, so he’s been doing it a little at a time.
Fortunately we’ve been having some rain, so the fire danger has gone down for now. Fingers crossed.

Fire is such a big concern … Especially with drought. Clearing the area, I’m sure, VERY strenuous! And then, rain makes it all come back.
Yes, it will grow back. 😀
That would be hard work not to mention it could get a bit dangerous too if you were to slip
He has slipped a couple of times, which is why he is careful not to overdo it.
Way to go, Andy! I think this calls for another cookie. Or two!
😀
Andy is a horse! I mean that in a complimentary way.
He does keep trucking along.
Gosh, that is a lot of work!! But it is good to have it done, in case of a fire.
Yes, it needs to be done. 🙁
I know how hard it is to keep my nature strip clear cut every few years, I can’t imagine the work Andy does. Gotta love the land because you get paid in the satisfaction of a job well done.
Yes, if he didn’t love the land so much he wouldn’t bother. 🙂
glad the fire alerts are better now. it is always amazing what can grow back so quickly after being killed off or removed. yesterday I menitoned comment problems and adding info each time, just found out it is ok on desktop and saves but on chromebook it doesn’t save info even when I click save. hummm
Thank you for telling me about the problems with comments. Andy’s Chromebook doesn’t save data as I recall, so that might explain it?
Wow, it looks like a lot of work to clear all that vegetation. I’m not surprised Andy is doing it a little at a time! Glad you’ve had some much-needed rain.
We had a half an inch this afternoon (July 1) and are very happy about it. 🙂
