This is the view from our porch Friday morning. (For higher resolution, click here).
How neat is that?
We were so lucky we had some moisture before Kaitlin, Torben, and the pups came. Things were green instead of dry and brown. And except for Thursday, their last day, when it started warming up, the temperatures were in the 70s, with enough rain in the afternoons/evenings to keep things moist.
Since then we’ve had a couple of too-warm days, but it rained again yesterday afternoon up on the land and today down here. If that isn’t heaven during an exceptional drought, I don’t know what is.

and they foolishly call Montana … Big Sky Country?
they apparently haven’t spent much time in New Mexico!
these pictures of where you live are breathtaking!
and I went to Flickr and enjoyed everyone of them… winding up with the park home of Edna and Homer and then on to the beauty of home for Kaitlin and Torben and the kids. I finally made myself stop. you could be a professional photographer! XOXO
New Mexico is The Land of Enchantment. The air was this clear most of the time when we came here 46 years ago. Now it’s only after rain has cleaned it. I missed it for a long time.
The ponderosa pines, the rarified air …
Once again, I long for ‘scratch and sniff’ technology.
Days like Friday morning remind us of “the good old days”. Except then we didn’t have the internet and blogging, so I’ll enjoy the memories and play with my toys.
You have a beautiful view. I had expected you to live in a more deserted place, seeing as you have so much land.
We live down here in an apartment, our land is in the mountains about an hour away. About half of that commute is on rough dirt roads.
That is a really nice view. So glad that the weather was good for Kaitlin and Torbens visit.
Yes, we were so lucky.
Good weather…having good company…and a view like that, exceptional.
Yes. 🙂
Wow what a gorgeous sky! And I’m so glad you got some rain. I hope you get a little more so that the fires don’t start up. And what a beautiful temperature to have while you had your company. I do love your home on top of the hill and it has beautiful views but your home that you live in now is absolutely got a gorgeous stunning View without even going outside
We have to step outside to our porch. The apartment isn’t fancy, but it’s an easy walk downtown and to the pond, and the porch does have a nice view. We’ve been very happy renting here.
We’re so used to grass here being lush and green we forget that in other countries it’s a battle to keep lawns from drying out. The temperature today is a very pleasant 21C, with a slight breeze to prevent it being too sticky.
Indeed, that’s a fantastic view from your porch. It must be a great spot for walkers and ramblers.
It’s a great place for people who like outdoor activities. Here a lot of people are doing away with lawns because they take too much water.
We had a bit of rain here yesterday too. But when I turned to the newspaper this morning I read that the airport half a dozen or so miles away had winds gusting to 80 mph and a funnel cloud. Daughter who lives near there reported smashed gazing balls, a torn awning and other minor damage at her place. Guess I will stop complaining when a storm comes through and most of it misses us.
You were lucky!
It’s a lovely view!
🙂
I’ve always liked gentle rains but now I cheer when we get any type of rain.
As long as we’re safely inside and don’t have to drive through downpours. 🙂
looking awesome, yes I’m behind with everyone who blogs – apologies
Don’t worry about it, when you have time come by when you feel like it. It’s supposed to be fun, not a chore. Take care and stay safe and happy.
