Replacing and Repairing

Andy wasn’t feeling well last week, so when he was a bit late Saturday afternoon I checked the Garmin map. No problem, he had stopped at the local hardware store on the way home.

What did he buy? A new hose, three fence stakes, and a new garden lopper.

The hose — some critter had chewed up the hose to the redwood tree. No doubt because there was still water in it and the critter was thirsty.

The stakes — some critter had mangled the fence around the redwood tree. The picture shows how one of the green stakes has been pushed in, but it doesn’t show what a mess the animal made of the wire. Andy bought three more of the longer, sturdier stakes and will replace the smaller green ones and repair the fence.

The lopper — Andy realized that when he was clearing off the side of one of the the roads on the way up (in preparation for plowing this winter), he left his lopper by the side of the road. On the way home he saw that someone had taken it so he had to buy a new one.

He was cheerful enough when he got home, but he did say it wasn’t one of his best days up there.

A never ending job up there!
    I guess that’s true anywhere.
I hope he knows his limits and doesn’t overtire himself!
But you probably can’t tell him that I bet.
He’s gonna do what he’s gonna do.

  2. doesn’t sound like Andy should continue to feel unwell, as he has so much more to do with his life up on the land…keeping on top of the critters for one reason. of course, that might just be a sign to slow down a bit…and smell the roses (read sit on the porch and view your own land)

I know that feeling, of not quite on top of things…and I did get an email about something to do with art yesterday – don’t stress, take your time…

He’s having some side effects of some medicine and has stopped taking it. He will mention it to the doctor the next time he sees her.

oh my goodness. what a day. but it seems to be keeping him young and healthy in spite of everything! I think his secret is probably… ” He was cheerful enough when he got home…” xoxo

Yes, he doesn’t waste energy fussing about the way life should be. One of his favorite sayings used to be, “If I were younger I would work up a towering rage about this, but I no longer have the energy.” 😀

A bit of a tough day, but Andy got through it just fine—good for him!

I would be cheerful too if I could get away atop a mountain for a day of activity.
