Serenity

This reminds me of a comment Andy used to make about things he didn’t like,

If I were younger I would go into a towering rage, but I don’t have the energy for that anymore.

One of the perks of getting older.

  3. JeanR. says:

Serene could just be another word for resigned. LOL

A fair amount of this, I think. Is that part of the wisdom that comes with experience?

    • Jean says:

Or serene could be “I don’t care. I can’t be bothered to do anything.”

One of my favorite sayings is, “The quality of our lives depends on how we focus our energy and our attention.” To me that means knowing what our values are and focusing on being constructive, especially when something bothers us. It’s a skill that we can get better and better at if we practice.

I like JeanR’s comment, too. Maybe we are serene because we forget what we would normally feel upset about.

I would agree, being worn down can be what invites serenity.

this is funny and oh so TRUE… no energy to get in a rage, but I do mange to rant a little.

  7. depends on the situation – what might not be rage is a long drawn out – mindless anger that simmers just below the surface.

In last couple if weeks since I learnt of the U2 tenants and the blase way of life, me: angry – sad – sleepless on how adults could take their landlord for a ride, lie about everything – run up a huge amount of rent arrears but still have enough money to buy the largest bottles of vodka, beer etc.

Their reward “eviction” which occurred yesterday…morning.

Yes, it’s all quiet now…but I’m still a little jumpy as it’s possible for them to return to take their chattels which are outside, like the inflatable large swimming pool, some plants, garden furniture…they left behind… but the locks have been changed and I’ve finally read the notice attached to the front windows – District Court eviction notice…

Wise Andy comes through again. Don’t you just love “Pickles”? Mom sure does – she laughs out loud when she reads that comic each morning.
