Things Are Seldom Simple

Andy has been spending most of his time working on clearing the defensible space around the shed. (Pictures of that in a later post.) So to help his back when he cuts down vegetation in the future, he bought the heavy-duty brush cutter shown in the above picture.

The only problem is, it’s designed to be operated at elevations less than 5000 feet, and the land is at almost 9,000. So he needed to order a part that will adapt the cutter for us. The closest authorized service dealer is in Albuquerque, so he took the cutter down to them…in the fullness of time they will order the part and install it. It will be interesting to see how long it takes.

And I was busy today trying to find out why my new iPhone SE is losing pictures. Here are the ones that survived from our trip to the land Monday evening. The one of Andy isn’t very good, but the best one has disappeared. I Googled the problem but they just said look in my Deleted Photos Album, in case I accidentally deleted them. No, I’m afraid not.

So I tried Apple Chat and the gal tried to help, but after some time she said I had to phone them. I’ll try that when I have a big chunk of time…I’m guessing there will be a long wait, but I’m always happy to be proven wrong.

Who ever heard of an iPhone losing pictures? Just another mystery of the universe.

I will let you know how that turns out,

  1. these kind of gadgets – all seem at times – to have minds of their own!

Apple iphone losing pictures is a new one on me! I’ve tried using ‘chat’ with our printer company. It wasn’t a very happy or successful experience. Best to phone, I discovered, even though the wait time is usually long!

On the other hand, my experience with Amazon chat worked extremely well. There’s no predicting. With Century Link the bot was quick, then said, “An agent will be with you right away.” Uh, huh. Dream on!

I so do NOT envy you with the iPhone problems… or the brush cutter either. It’s so funny but I am not a “mechanized” person in the least…. or technologically advanced either. Oh my word, rather than have a cell phone I’d much prefer using pigeons to send messages. *haha* I have a mental block in regard to such things, I am convinced! I don’t have a dishwasher and went 4 years without a dryer too, not so very long ago. Just call me Wilma Flintstone!! 😀 Good luck with the brush cutter and your phone. I hope your issues with both get fixed pronto. Love, Andrea xoxo

Our cellphones are the old-fashioned flip phones and until now we never used them expect for me to text Andy up on the land. Today I will need mine when I get to the endodontist in Santa Fe to tell them when I arrive. They will phone me when it’s time to come in. The pandemic has changed a lot of things!

We have a dishwasher and used it once or twice when we got here almost 46 years ago. Since then I was dishes by hand and use the dishwasher for storage.

I like the iPhone cameras. Torben got me hooked on them when he gave me one of his old ones.

I never would have thought that a brush cutter would be effected by elevation. How interesting.
Crazy on the pictures too. I accidentally deleted a picture on my phone once and couldn’t even find the deleted picture folder…lol

    • Jean says:

I had to search for the deleted picture album. I didn’t even know it existed until I did a search on lost pictures.

There is a lot less oxygen in the air at higher altitudes, so they have to decrease the amount of gas being used in the engine.

The new phone sure takes fantastic photos! I hope it didn’t lose too many and I know exactly what you mean about trying to contact somebody by phone I try not to ever use the phone if at all possible. So now I don’t feel so bad that I can’t afford an iPhone. Haha thanks for making me feel better! I had no idea that the altitude would have anything to do with a piece of Machinery working learn something new everyday

  6. I never would have guessed altitude would make a difference in a brush cutter. Learn something new every day.

I don’t use my phone to take photos. When I do there is always a thumb in my shots. LOL

    • Jean says:

😀 That’s a problem with any small, compact camera. We have a lot of thumb shots in pictures from Andy’s little compact. But he wouldn’t take any pictures if the camera were any bigger…it has to easily fit in his shirt pocket.

That brush cutter is an interesting ‘gadget’ to me! I hope you figure out what is happening with your photos…
