Why Photo Edit?

Why did I need to do some photo editing to get this picture?

Because it was exposed for the sky and the foreground was way too dark:

Simply brightening the picture would have washed out the sky.

It took a long time, but I love the picture so it was worth it.

It WAS worth it! You made it look so much better!

it sounds unreasonable… given the time and effort you put into it…
but I actually like them Both!
the sky (to me imagination overload always lol) … but
it looks like a storm is brewing with the resulting shadows and darkening of the land. I find it lovely and intriguing. like waiting for the storm.
but I also like the sheer beauty of your ‘enhanced shot’ too! where the land is magnified in all its variations.
so in my book… it’s a toss up! thanks for showing both of them! xoxo

Thanks for sharing your reaction, that’s what makes it fun.

I don’t like the grass in the foreground, but I wanted Andy to stand out.

If you like ominous clouds, they stand out in this picture:

And this one shows how the sky gets washed out if I just brighten a picture:

i know exactly what you mean, i edit almost all my photos that are real photos, not the silly ones i take, like a jar of pickles or my coffee pot, those i take to go with my stories. all three of these are beautiful, my favorite is the first edit. your hubby is the focus of the whole thing, but that sky i A-Mazing…super edits

Most of the pictures we take are for the stories, but I loved this one. I thought I would need PhotoShop, but PhotoShop Elements had all I needed.

    Absolutely lovely! Well done.

Effort is not currently my favorite word, though, as we try to figure out how to make the new computer do what I want it to do. 🙂

You did a great job making that photo so outstanding.

Fantastic job of editing. The sky was perfect in the first so I like that you were able to leave that alone for the edited version.

And your loving it is all that counts. (I do, too!)

  8. Looks great. Glad that worked out.
