I tried several times yesterday to get a good telephoto shot of the gazing ball. Interestingly enough, the best one was when I couldn’t see the ball without the binoculars.
This is the view of the gazing ball area taken last month with my iPhone. (The ball doesn’t show in the photo but it’s somewhere inside the white circle I’ve added to the left of the fireplace chimney.)
This is the photo of the ball taken with my telephoto lens yesterday:
Zooming in with GraphicConverter you can even see the lines of the basket.
Not too shabby, Nikon!

Thanks. 🙂
Beautiful color!!
🙂
Good job on the zoom. You can tell it’s a gazing ball in that one.
🙂
i like the new one better than the old one. It looks so hard to even get to this location!
Yes. I don’t go down there because it’s too steep for me. I leave it to Andy and the youngsters. 🙂
I still think that was a stroke of genius to use the gazing ball to.mark the spot!
Andy had a stake there and Beate bought the gazing balls. She’s a neat neighbor.
that’s a great gadget you’ve bought yourself Jean…
Actually Beate bought it for Andy. How sweet was that?
